Northern California's first authentic street food sandwich loved by millions has arrived!  We start with handmade toasted herbal Turkish flat bread lathered in speciality sauces, that is then filled with vibrant fresh vegetables and salads finally stuffed with marinated succulent slivers of golden vertically-roasted savory doner meat! The result is other-worldly! As one person never said:

"It's like letting your tastebuds go topless!" 

"Doner is German for 'I can't stop stuffing this into my mouth-hole!'" (Loose interpretation!)

Döner Kebab! The greatest sandwich you've never had - until now

In the early 1970's when Berlin was still trying to rebuild from the effects of WWII Berliners also experienced a huge influx of Turkish immigrants who arrived to assist in rebuilding the historical city. In addition to bringing engineering skills the immigrants also brought with them a rich culinary heritage which also included something called döner kebab

Döner kebab is simply meat that has been slow roasted on a vertical rotisserie then cut into small slivers whereby the meat is combined with vegetables and bread for a wonderful meal. 

Once Berliners were introduced to the döner kebab it quickly became national favorite street food by blue collar and white collar workers alike, students and anyone who loved good food! Soon Berliners began adding their own sauces and changes whereby the döner kebab of Berlin was quite distinctive from its original cousin of the 1970's. 

Today millions of Germans love eating a "duuuurner" at soccer games, after a night out at the disco, after school, for lunch, for dinner or for no other reason than to just eat something wonderful!!


AND NOW - this amazing sandwich - straight from Berlin (minus the jet lag!) is being introduced to my fellow Northern Californians right here in Red Bluff!

DBD's Story

DBD is a family-owned, locally-operated culinary dream come true. Owner Dan Eberhardt and his passion for döners began in 1991 when he was a foreign exchange student to Germany his junior year of high school. It was then and there Dan was introduced to the marvelously tasty German street food of doner kebab! Never had he tasted something so simple yet so flavorful!

And ever since his first bite into a "daaaawner" he dreamed of bringing the sandwich back home to his fellow west coasters. Dan's desire is nothing short of wanting to awaken each person's taste buds to a never-before-experienced symphony of culinary sensory events caused by eating a doner.

Today Döners by Dan or DBD is Dan's dream-turned-reality.
